The Shooting Gallery - Our Upcoming Exhibit

The Shooting Gallery, an exhibit by the Scott County Shooter's Photography Club (yep, that's us!) will run from January 8th through February 5th, with the opening reception being held on Friday, January 8th from 6-8pm at the Scott County Arts and Cultural Center, located at 117 Water St. in Georgetown. The gallery hours, unless otherwise noted, are Tuesday through Saturday 12-4pm, or by appointment. For more information, or to make an appointment, contact Barbara Stipplehoff at 502-863-0909 or 502-570-8366. The event is free and open to the public.

Okay, that's the headline, now for the nitty gritty.

We only had four members attend the gallery planning meeting held earlier this month. Luckily, we were able to quickly make decisions on most of the details. We need to hear from everyone in the group. Ida has graciously agreed to make the entire menu for the exhibit reception, which will consist of finger foods with bottled water and punch to drink. Brenda has graciously agreed to pick up the materials, such as plates, cups, and napkins. I have worked on brochures and ads to publicize our group and the event as well as some custom art work to display our name at the exhibit. As a group, we will all need to contribute to cover these expenses. We estimate that it will be about $5 per person. This is a very small price to pay to have our own exhibit where we can feature and sell our work! We will also need some volunteers to setup, man, and clean up after the exhibit.

Regarding entry exhibits, Brenda and I have only heard from Ida and Lynn regarding their contributions to the exhibit. We really want this to be a great success, to really showcase who we are - our talents and our passions. So, let's make sure this exhibit is the best we can possibly make it! Please contact Brenda and/or myself immediately, letting us know if you plan to participate and, if so, with how many pieces. Please take a minute to send us an email even if you don't plan to participate, letting us know that is the case, so we can have a good idea of what to expect.

We are also looking at having a possible framing workshop like we did for the Sadieville exhibit. It looks like the Saturday before the exhibit may be a good day, as it is the day before we are to deliver our pieces. Nothing definite in this regard, yet, though. Please let Brenda and/or myself know if you'd like to attend a framing workshop and, if so, if that Saturday or another date works best.
